13.
Sutton’s parents were being held in the interrogation room, which was a separate building behind the small brick station. Paul walked Sutton and Greysen down the covered concrete walkway that connected the two buildings, and they stepped inside the front door to a small hall with two doors – one on either side.
Paul knocked on the door to the left and two detectives walked out. Both tall broad men wore brown jackets, one with a white shirt, one with a pale yellow. The one with the pale yellow shirt had pale yellow hair to match. The one in white had deep brown curls that were tight to his head. The detectives gave them all a quick nod and Curls spoke to Paul.
“They’re all yours. Those are some sick twisted fucks, let me tell ya.”
Sutton’s stomach turned.
“Oh, uhm, sorry miss.” Curls smiled half-heartedly and followed Blondie out.
Paul rolled his eyes and turned to Sutton at his side. “We put them in one room so it’d be easier for you to talk to them. We’ll be right here,” he pointed his thumb to himself and Greysen, “take all the time you need.”
Sutton gave him one quick nod of her head and turned to Greysen.
“I love you, baby,” he whispered to her lips before placing a soft press to them.
“I love you too. Thank you for being with me.”
“Don’t thank me. Where else would I be? I’ll always be by your side, forever.”
Sutton smiled a sweet loving smile, though she couldn’t make it reach her eyes. She stretched up on tiptoe as Greysen leaned his head down to meet her and give her one more kiss.
She stepped inside and the heavy steel door shut with a solid thud behind her. Her parents looked up, even in the situation they were in their faces were full of arrogance.
“Sutton, how dare you come here and…”
Sutton cut eyes at her mom that could scare the hair off a cat. “Shut the fuck up.” Her voice was steady, low, and thick with rage. The nervous turn her stomach was feeling before she walked in quickly faded and was replaced with so much hate.
Her mom’s eyes widened at Sutton’s words and her mouth dropped.
“Don’t you take that tone with your mother, young lady…”
“That goes for you too, Samuel,” Sutton said, cutting her eyes towards her dad.
“What? Who do you think you’re talking to…”
Sutton cut him off. “Me? Who do I think I’m talking to…How dare I? Are you fucking kidding me? I am not the one who hired someone to murder their daughter’s fiancĂ©. I am not the one who paid off some doctor and nurse to switch their living breathing grandson with that of a dead baby and lie to their daughter about it.” With every word the rage inside her grew to new heights, and with every word her parents’ faces dropped more and their demeanor changed from arrogance to shame.
Sutton walked to the table her parents were sitting behind and slammed her fists down in one loud crash. “I am not the one who lied to me for eight fucking years about the two most important people in my life while watching me want to kill myself every fucking day! I am not the one who found out that Ethen lived and lied to him, forcing him to leave town, to leave me, to leave our son! Don’t you fucking look at me with blood on your hands and ask me who do I think I’m talking to! I am talking to the two most revolting, deceitful, cold-blooded, murderous fucking bastards to walk the earth!”
Sutton’s dad stood and squared his shoulders. He was a big man – right over six feet and very broad like a wrestler. His dark hair matched his dark eyes; and right now they looked completely soulless. He tried to intimidate her with his stance but it only pissed her off more. The rage inside of her burned through her blood, boiling in her veins. She could feel it rush through her body like a scalding wave as it poured out through her skin in a burning, stinging eruption of fury.
“We are still your parents…” Sam started to say.
“My parents are DEAD! You are NOT my parents!”
Her mom burst into a loud outpour of tears. “Sutton, we only wanted what was best for you!”
Sutton looked down to her mom who was still sitting. Her deep red, curly hair was piled loosely on top of her head – her large, green eyes now full of tears, streaking her mascara in long, watery black lines, looking harsh against her fair skin.
Sutton’s voice calmed just enough to speak without screaming. “What was best for me? Why in the world would you think killing the man I love would be what was best for me?”
“Sutton, he was trash!” Helen’s tears quickly stopped and her face turned cold. “He was an orphan for God’s sakes; no family, no past and no future! You wouldn’t give him up no matter how hard we tried and there were so many men out there who fell at your feet when you walked…you could’ve had any of them. They had money, power…”
“Shut up! God, listen to yourself! They didn’t have money, their parents did and I could’ve given a shit less about money. I could give a shit less about it now! I LOVED him! I love him still and I will love him until the day I die! I cannot believe you can sit here and tell me that you hired someone to kill him to get him out of my life because he didn’t have enough money for you! And what about me? This great hit man you hired, was he supposed to kill me also? Were they supposed to shoot and rape me? Was that part of your fucking psychopathic plan?”
Helen looked at her with wide shocked eyes. “How could you think that? We never wanted you hurt. That was not part of it…they weren’t supposed to touch you…”
“But they did, Mom! They almost killed me because of your hatred of Ethen. They shot me in the fucking chest and after I was unconscious they raped me. Three fucked-in-the-head, good-for-nothings raped me because of you! I could’ve died and you sat back and let them run free to do this to countless numbers of other women and men and you said nothing to protect your own ass. You didn’t give a shit about me, about what I went through. There were so many times in my life that I wished they would’ve just killed me too.” Sutton’s voice dropped just a bit thinking of those dark and dreary times of her life.
Helen tried to reach her hands out to touch Sutton’s that were flat on the table top.
Sutton pulled back with a sudden jerk and gave her mother an incredulous look followed by one of pure detestation. “Don’t you fucking touch me, bitch….The nerve you must have to think that I would ever allow you to touch me again after what you did to me, to him, to our baby. What about our son? What’s your brilliant reasoning for faking his death and stealing him away from me?”
Helen hung her head. “That baby was trash like his father and would’ve only brought you down, ruined your life just like Ethen. We’d finally gotten rid of that crutch of yours and then that little bastard popped up. No good man would’ve taken you ruined…”
Sutton didn’t even let her finish speaking; she jumped across the table and tackled her mom causing them both to slam onto the ground.
Paul and Greysen burst through the door hearing the loud collision of the metal chair against the concrete floor and saw Sutton landing blow after blow on her mother with a loud wordless screech of infuriation. After her breath ran out, she began to scream with each constant strike.
“You stole our son! You sold our baby! You crazy fucking demented bitch! You ruined my life! I hope you fucking die!”
Greysen pulled Sutton up in one quick motion, wrapping his arms around her in a bear hug while she bucked and screamed.
Paul helped Helen up from the ground, with a pleased look on his face looking upon her bloodied face and split lip.
Sam stood motionless with his back against the far wall and just watched with a look of pure shock at his daughter’s violent actions.
Sutton stopped bucking against Greysen and started in with a small, amused snicker. The low giggle grew until she was flat out laughing, but it wasn’t laughter of joy. It was more a sound of revelation. It took everyone off guard as they all turned to look at her.
“Baby?” Greysen asked confoundedly.
“Put me down, my love. I am ok. I promise.”
Greysen looked at Paul who was standing next to Helen. Paul nodded and Greysen released his grip on Sutton. She straightened her shirt with her hands and locked her arm through Greysen’s. She smiled at him and reached up to kiss him. He leaned his head down and met her with a soft press of lips.
“I’m sorry, love. I am ok, really.”
She turned and looked back at her parents with a proud and smug smile.
“You failed. Everything you tried for, everyone you tried to take out of my life, my love, our son. You failed. I already have one and we are in process of finding the other. We will find him and we will be a family. And you will rot in prison for the rest of your lives knowing you failed and I am happy with the man I’ve loved my whole life and our son. I hope it was all worth it. I hope losing me…losing everything; your house, your money, your freedom, I hope it was worth it. Because this,” she waved a hand around her to the four gray cinderblock walls with no windows, “this is your life from now on and I am finally and truly happy.”
She and Greysen turned to walk out.
“Sutton…” She looked back over her shoulder at her mom’s word. “You can’t just leave us like this….you can’t leave us here…”
“Good-bye, Mother.”
She wrapped her arm around Greysen’s waist as he did the same. He looked back one last time and gave them a sly smile and a shoulder shrug and walked out with his love at his side.
They headed back to Paul’s office to wait for him. On the walk back Sutton stopped and gasped. “Oh no!”
Greysen looked down at her wrapped securely in his arm at his side. “What’s the matter, my love?”
“I can’t believe I just said that in front of Paul…about you…I’m so sorry. I wasn’t thinking, I was so pissed and my head was…”
He leaned in and kissed her lips softly. “It’s ok, baby. He kinda caught on when we were standing outside of the room and he heard you yelling about them finding out that Ethen lived and forced him to leave town…” Sutton’s mouth dropped and Greysen kissed her softly with a humored smile. “It’s ok, baby, really. I trust Paul. We’ll have a little talk with him when he gets back. It’ll be alright.”
“I’m so sorry…I…”
Greysen turned and wrapped his large, strong arms around her waist, pulling her tightly against his body and looking intently into her sad, scared eyes.
“Don’t apologize to me. After what you just went through, after everything you’ve gone through…I’d never be mad at you, you amazing,” he kissed her lightly, “beautiful,” kiss, “sexy woman.”
Sutton smiled and began tracing her hands up and down his back. “I love you. But what about what you’ve been through. My parents…wanted you dead, just because I love you…they had you murdered. They ruined your life, our life…”
“No. My life is with you and I have you right where I want you. We may have spent seven years apart, seven years of thinking we’d never hold each other again, but now with you in my arms, those seven years are like a fuzzy, bad dream. You are all I’ve ever known, all I’ve ever loved and I don’t care about the rest. As long as I can have you from here on out, the rest of my life will be a dream come true.”
Greysen lifted Sutton so she was eye level with him and they began to kiss as they’d kissed in the hotel room. People walked passed them, around them, but they didn’t care. They were wrapped in their own world of bliss, where only the two of them existed and all they could hear was their hearts beating in sync.
“Uhm, I don’t know if you should start this here,” Sutton giggled.
Greysen set her on her feet, and taking her by the hand, he led her to Paul’s office. The blinds were still drawn as they entered quickly and shut the door behind them. As soon as they were hidden behind the walls of his small office, Sutton’s body was wrapped around Greysen’s large, muscular frame with a swift lift from his massive strong hands. Greysen walked over to the couch and sat with Sutton straddling his thighs.
The fire that burned in the depths of their souls exuded the passion, the unquenchable craving need and loyal devotion they felt into each other’s mouths and dispersed through every twitching muscle as their bodies worked against one another’s, even through their clothes.
Sutton rolled her body, circling her hips over Greysen’s growing thrusts so that every inch of her rubbed every inch of him with each motion. His hands found their way under her shirt and grasped firmly against her bare back. Her hands stroked the back of his neck and up into his thick, lustrous hair as their tongues explored each other’s in deep, gliding caresses.
She could feel the thickness of him, even through their blue jeans, begin to grow and press firmly against her stomach. She pulled from the kiss just a bit, biting his lower lip and sucking it into her mouth with a roll of her tongue before she released it. She kept her mouth hovering over his as she spoke.
“I think we need to get out here before I rip off your clothes and fuck you right here on this couch.”
Greysen’s smile that portrays pure sex spread slowly over his face as his hands began to unzip her jeans.
“What are you doing?” she asked in a shocked breathless pant. Just the feel of his hands that close to her and the sound of the zipper slowly gliding down the tracks made things low in her body tighten and fill with moisture.
“I have to touch you…I need to feel,” Greysen said as he looked down and slipped one finger into the gaping zipper. “Uhmmm, I think you forgot to put on your panties today.” His finger slithered in between her lips, over her clit and down to the pulsing opening of her body.
She took a heavy breath and whispered, “Was kinda in a rush.”
Greysen looked back up to kiss her as she leaned into his warm, delicious mouth; his finger slowly gliding around her wet pussy. He licked her lips lightly with a flick of his tongue. “I like it.” In the same second, he sucked her tongue into his mouth and pushed a finger into her tight hole.
It tore a small moan from her chest and her back arched. He pulled that finger back and slipped back in with two fingers, long and deep until the palm of his hand bumped her skin.
“Oh my God, Greysen, what are you doing?”
The deep gliding kisses began before he could speak. Each glide of his tongue matched each glide of his fingers working their way in and out of her as she grew wetter and wetter. Greysen moved his thumb over her clit and begin rubbing in firm slow circles. He pushed his fingers all the way in and found that spot inside that hurts so good. He manipulated that spot over and over as his thumb caressed the outside sweet spot.
Sutton’s breathing accelerated to match her frantic heart. She plunged her tongue into Greysen’s mouth and every muscle in her body came to a warm tightened halt. Her breathing paused and her body exploded in a fierce head to toe shudder under his hand. She bit down on his tongue and then finally released with the instant relaxation of all those tight muscles. Her breath came out in a hot and heavy whoosh inside his mouth.
She involuntarily shuddered again as he removed his hand and then fell slack against his chest.
“Oh my God. You…I can’t believe…uh…” she tried to catch her breath to speak.
Greysen kissed her cheek and then her lips as she pulled her upper body from his slightly to look in his eyes. He slipped those two fingers into his mouth and sucked the remnants of her orgasm off of them.
“You’re fucking amazing you know that? You’ve never been able to…that was incredible. I can’t believe it was just your hand.”
He smiled coyly and kissed her again. “It’s only because of your delectable body.”
They heard one of the officer’s outside the door greet Paul. Sutton quickly jumped up, zipped her pants and sat calmly next to Greysen as he took her hand and held it against his heart. They looked at each other and smiled as Paul walked into his office.
“Wow, Sutton, I gotta say, that’s some right hook you got there, sweetheart!”
Greysen tried to hold in the laughter but it escaped in a sudden short burst. Sutton looked over at him and couldn’t help but smile.
“I’m sorry about that, Paul.”
“No, no, please don’t apologize. I wish I could’ve done it. I’m glad somebody who can’t get in trouble got a chance to nail that bitch.”
Paul stood before them both as a look of uncertainty washed over his face. “Is it really you…are you…” The wrinkle between his brow suddenly relaxed and a smile began to spread over his face. “It is you…I…this is….Ethen?”
Greysen stood and nodded once, unsure of what was coming next. But Paul surprised him and stepped to him in two long strides, throwing his arms around him and hugging him tightly. Greysen hugged back, relieved and worried at the same time.
Paul stepped back just a touch but kept one hand on his shoulder. “Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle. I can’t believe this…you’re alive. How the hell? I mean, you were dead. I saw your body. What the hell happened, man?”
Sutton stood and looked at Paul cautiously. Paul dropped his hand and took a step back as they both stood silently before him.
“It’s ok. I don’t need to know do I? I understand. Look, you can trust me. I ain’t gonna say nothing to nobody. I’m just…well, shit, I’m just glad to see you alive and to see you two back together. It’s a miracle.”
Greysen smiled as his anxiety about Paul’s knowledge of who he is quickly subsided. “It truly is. I appreciate your discretion, Paul. As far as anyone else is concerned, Ethen is dead. It has to remain that way.”
Paul shook his head. “Say no more. Secret’s safe with me. Scout’s honor.” He held up his three finger Boy Scout gesture and they all laughed out loud.
“So what do we do now?” Sutton asked.
“Now, we await trial for your parents and we continue looking for your son, y’all’s son. Wow, Sutton and Ethen, uhm sorry, Greysen’s son. This is all just truly such a miracle. It’s gonna take me a minute to wrap my head around it all.”
Sutton and Greysen looked to one another and smiled. He tightened his arms around his truest love and spoke low but not with the intentions to whisper, he just couldn’t seem to swallow the sudden lump of happiness in his throat. “It is.”
